Open Studio

Wednesdays noon until 2 PM Artists are welcome to join us for a "drop-in" art-making session. Please call ahead, because it is not always open. If drawing or painting is not your thing, you can journal, write essays, poetry, your autobiography, short stories, or novels. It's at The Awakenings Project Studio.

Reaching Out

Several members of The Awakenings Project have led "Imagery Journaling" at the late, great Larkin Center in Elgin, at West Chicago Terrace nursing home and at Wheaton Care Center. We've also led art groups at theDuPage Convalescent Center.  The groups were project-oriented, and each member created a functional and beautiful piece of artwork with a little help from Awakenings. All of these programs were partially supported by a grant from the Community Arts Access Program, which is funded by The Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and the now unfortunately defunct Hinsdale Center for the Arts.
