2010, The NEW Awakenings Review has arrived! The Winter 2009-2010 issue is hot off the presses. Order your copy(ies) NOW from this website. AUGUST 2- OCTOBER 29, 2010, Provena St. Joseph's in Elgin Several Awakenings artists will have an exhibit in Provena St. Joe's beautiful new "Healing Gallery." The opening reception was phenomenal! It was on August 20th, and everyone who is anyone was there. There will also be an artist-led panel discussion on Thursday evening, October 28th from 6 - 8 PM at Provena St. Joseph's in Elgin. SEPTEMBER 26 - OCTOBER 17, 2010, Gary Methodist Church in Wheaton Right next door to the church's main building is a white house with a red door, called Burning Bush Gallery, which hosts an art show with a different theme each month. During "Mental Illness Awareness Week," The Awakenings Project will have approximately 30-35 works of art on exhibit, with some never before seen artists. Opening Reception will be on Sunday, October 3, from 1 - 3 PM. Refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public. Please join us! OCTOBER 7, 2010, 6 - 8 PM, Bundles of Books and Gifts, Glen Ellyn Poetry readings, music, open mic, arranged by Joel Munson. Poets and musicians will perform at Bundles of Books & Gifts, including Awakenings writers, other local poets, and some musicians. Awakenings fans, supporters, and bookstore regulars are welcome. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments. OCTOBER 9, 2010 9 AM - 4 PM, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Awakenings will have an exhibition of artwork all day, and host an art-making drop-in group from 10 AM - 3 PM at the FAMILIES (Families And Mental Illness Learning and Inspiring through Education and Support) Symposium. NOVEMBER 9, 2010, Interfaith Mental Health Conference Awakenings will have an exhibit at "The Mental Health Needs of Your Faith Community: How to Recognize, Respond and Refer," which is targeted toward an audience of faith leaders of any faith or cultural tradition, persons in pastoral care roles and people of faith with interest in mental health. Come on out and join us! SPRING 2011, Illinois Valley Community College, Oglesby, IL We've been invited to return to IVCC. Date to be determined. Stay tuned for more details.
