Awakenings Fine Arts is awakening from a two-year slumber during the pandemic. We are excited, proud, and honored to present an exhibit at the Ann Brierly Gallery in New Trier High School, in Winnetka, Illinois. The show will take place May 2nd through 13th 2022. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We were invited to return after having had a successful exhibit there in 2007 and we will be reconnecting with Erika's Lighthouse – A Beacon of Hope for Adolescents.
Several members of The Awakenings Project have led "Imagery Journaling" at the late great Larkin Center in Elgin, at West Chicago Terrace nursing home, and at Wheaton Care Center. We've also led art groups at the DuPage Convalescent Center. The groups were project-oriented, and each member created a functional and beautiful piece of artwork with a little help from Awakenings.
All of these programs were partially supported by a grant from the Community Arts Access Program, which is funded by The Illinois Arts Council (a state agency) and the now unfortunately defunct Hinsdale Center for the Arts.
